01. TECHNICAL OVERVIEW & ENGINEERING CHARACTERISTICS
Structural steel manufactured per SR EN 10025-2 in grades S235, S275, and S355. Offers isotropic mechanical properties, predictable elastic-plastic behavior, and fast prefabricated erection. Extensively utilized in industrial logistics centers, large-span sports halls, and high-rise commercial frameworks under Eurocode 3 (SR EN 1993) and Eurocode 8 (SR EN 1998).
02. CONSTITUENTS & MANUFACTURING SPECIFICATION
- ▸Hot-rolled structural non-alloy steel according to SR EN 10025-2
- ▸Standard cross-section geometries: HEA, HEB, HEM, IPE, UPN, hollow tubular SHS/RHS (SR EN 10210)
✓ ADVANTAGES & STRENGTHS
- •Highest strength-to-weight ratio among structural materials, minimizing foundation loads
- •High precision off-site prefabrication and rapid on-site bolted/welded assembly
- •Excellent ductility and seismic energy dissipation when designed with plastic hinge zones
- •100% recyclable with minimal degradation of metallurgical properties
⚠ LIMITATIONS & RISK FACTORS
- •Requires certified intumescent paint or mineral casing for fire protection (critical loss of strength at >550°C)
- •Susceptible to atmospheric corrosion requiring multi-layer epoxy/polyurethane coating or hot-dip galvanizing
- •Higher initial material cost per ton compared to cast-in-place concrete
