LEVEL 1: QUICK UNDERSTANDING (EXECUTIVE SUMMARY)
INVESTORS & DEVELOPERSNon-combustible stone wool insulation produced from volcanic basalt rock, delivering Class A1 fire protection, thermal insulation, and sound absorption.
Ventilated facade insulation and high-rise ETICS building envelopes, Fire-rated perimeter bands (brâuri rezistente la foc) in EPS facade systems
01. TECHNICAL OVERVIEW & ENGINEERING CHARACTERISTICS
Rock Mineral Wool compliant with SR EN 13162:2015. Manufactured by spinning molten volcanic basalt rock at 1500°C into fine fibrous mats bonded with thermosetting resins. Delivers Euroclass A1 non-combustibility (melting point > 1000°C), superior acoustic sound absorption, high vapor breathability (μ = 1), and thermal conductivity of 0.034-0.038 W/mK. Mandated for ventilated facades, tall buildings, and fire barriers under Romanian Normativ P118/2.
02. CONSTITUENTS & MANUFACTURING SPECIFICATION
- ▸Volcanic basalt rock, dolomite, and bauxite melted in cupola furnaces at 1500°C
- ▸Centrifugal fiber spinning with water-repellent (hydrophobic) additives and organic binders
✓ ADVANTAGES & STRENGTHS
- •Completely non-combustible (Class A1), acting as a fire barrier that prevents vertical flame spread
- •Outstanding acoustic sound attenuation (airborne and impact sound absorption)
- •Maximum water vapor permeability (μ = 1), completely eliminating risk of interstitial condensation in breathable walls
- •Dimensional stability immune to thermal expansion or contraction
⚠ LIMITATIONS & RISK FACTORS
- •Higher weight (80-150 kg/m³ for facade boards) requiring heavy-duty mechanical anchor dowels
- •Higher material and installation cost compared to standard EPS
- •Must be protected from continuous liquid water soaking during on-site storage and installation
